HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

2  Hours Face to Face practical and theory training with assessment
 

Course Content includes:
- infection control principles and procedures, including use of standard precautions
- patient assessment and approach
- chain of survival
- perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- first aiders’ skills and limitations
- understanding of the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
-Social/legal issues:
- duty of care
- need to be culturally aware, sensitive and respectful
- importance of debriefing

Pre Requisites Students must be a minimum of 14 years at assessment

Course Materials We will provide all course materials manuals, assessment papers and all resources required for training and practical assessment
Students are advised to dress sensibly for practical training and scenarios

Assessment: Practical assessments include patient assessment, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Chain of survival and an understanding of the use of an Automated External Defibrillator as well as a multiple choice theory paper at the completion of the course

Outcome: After successful completion of the course participants will receive a HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate valid for 1 year.

HLTAID011 Provide first aid

This course provides participants with the knowledge and skills in providing first aid and basic life support until arrival of medical assistance

This includes calling for help, the ability to respond to first aid situations, casualty assessment, decision making and basic life support functions including cardiopulmonary resuscitation

The course covers adult and child conditions.

Learning Objectives
- Assessment and management of emergency situations and casualty
- Apply life support skills in accordance with Resuscitation Council guidelines
- Operation of automated external defibrillator
- First aid management for burns, bites, stings and poisoning
- Identification and management of bleeding and wounds
- Recognition and management of internal bleeding
- First aid management for bone and joint injuries
- Procedures for managing major and minor injury and illness
- First aid management for chest, abdominal, pelvic and head injuries
- The basic structure and function of the human body
- Infection control principals and procedures

Prerequisites: Participants must be at least 14 years of age at the time of attendance

First Aid Update Course: Students must supply a copy of a current certificate as confirmation

Students are advised to dress sensibly for practical training and scenarios

HLTAID012
Provide an emergency first aid response in an education and care setting

We believe, as do you, that Early Education Centres should be friendly, stimulating, fun and safe.


Safe? Well that’s our speciality but we still like to have fun while we train you

Yes we will be offering the current qualifications but specifically tailored to your work


We will even share with you and practice how to manage, the most common injuries and illnesses at each development stage from birth to 6 years


Much better than sitting through a public course and doing things not that relevant to you, of course we will cover these topics also but perhaps not in scenarios

1/ Day course 9 to 4 per calendar.

2/ We come to your Centre on a week end 9 – 4
3/ We come to you after hours 2 evenings. No extra charge. Whatever best suits you :-)
